Independent laboratory
Independent laboratory means an organization that meets the requirements in 46 CFR 159.0103. In addition to commercial testing laboratories, which may include not-for-profit organizations, the Commandant may also accept classification societies and agencies of governments (including State and Federal agencies of the United States) that are involved in the evaluation, inspection, and testing of BWMS.
