High Profile Acts, Bills and Resolutions
The new Library of Congress Internet server, "Thomas," permits those with Net access to follow the work of Congress in detail. Among many things, it provides the full text of all versions of bills and resolutions before both bodies of Congress -- as introduced and as passed.
To explore the potential of this new resource the LII set about reviewing the work of the 104th Congress.
Working off the agenda set by the "Contract with America" the 104th Congress has, to date:
- organized itself under new rules and
- passed legislation subjecting Congress to many of the laws covering other entities and employers
In addition, the House of Representatives has passed and sent on to the Senate:
- a proposed"Balanced Budget" amendment to the U.S. Constitution and
- a bill granting the President a line item veto
