Demise means transfer of property by a lease or will.
This case from California, explains that the word demise when used:
- As a noun, means:
- a lease for a term of years;
- a conveyance in fee, for life or years;
- the conveyance of an estate, either in fee or for life or for years, most commonly the latter.
- As a verb it means to lease for a term of years.
Demise also refers to the death of a person or the end of a thing, such as “demise of a corporation.”
