02.13 ARKANSAS WILDLIFE HARVEST RECORDING AND CHECKING REQUIREMENTS. It shall be unlawful to fail to comply with the following provisions:

(A) Upon taking each deer, turkey, or bear, every hunter shall immediately tear or cut out the notch next to the appropriate printed line on his/her "Record of Game" (included on Commission - issued universal license form). Further, said hunter shall immediately write legibly in ink, providing information requested by blank spaces on "Record of Game" in true and accurate form.

(B) Upon taking each deer, turkey, or bear (See Exception No. 3 below), every hunter shall, within 24 hours of harvest, check said game at an Official Wildlife Check Station (designated county check stations, designated commission employees, designated deer camps or the commission's on-line checking web site). Said hunter shall provide information requested by check station. Game may be field dressed prior to checking, but evidence of sex must remain until checked.

EXCEPTIONS:

(1) Non-resident hunters under sixteen years of age, who purchase an appropriate license upon taking said game, are exempted from immediately complying with provisions of (A) above. Ref Code 3.03 Hunting License Requirements, Exception (2).

(2) Resident hunters under sixteen years of age and holders of lifetime hunting licenses are exempted from the provisions of (A) above.

(3) Black bears should be checked within 24 hours after harvest by calling the toll free number listed in the regulation book. Hunters are required to extract a first upper or lower premolar from the carcass and give to the check station operator for age determination.

(4) Elk must be checked within 12 hours at a designated elk check station or by a designated Commission employee. Elk may be quartered in the field to prevent spoilage due to difficulties resulting from large animals taken in remote areas. Evidence of sex must remain until checked and the animal's head must be presented for checking.

(5) Black bears and deer may be quartered in the field to prevent spoilage due to difficulties resulting from large animals taken in remote areas.

PENALTY: $100.00 to $1,000.00
