Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 17, § 1305 - Public Health Nurse
(a) A public
health nurse shall be currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse in
California and shall:
(1) Possess a California
Public Health Nurse Certificate issued prior to March 5, 1954, or a Public Health
Nurse Certificate issued under the provisions of Section
4500 et seq: and
(2) By October 1, 1987 acquire training in the
detection, prevention, reporting requirements and treatment of child abuse and
neglect in accordance with Section
4501 of this chapter of working for a
local health jurisdiction on or after January 1, 1981.
(A) Directors of Public Health Nursing as defined
in Section 1301 shall have the responsibility for
verifying that all members of their Public Health Nursing Staff who have received
Public Health Nurse Certificates prior to October 1, 1987, have received training
which satisfies the requirement in Section
4501(a)(4).
(B) The Department of Health Services shall have
the responsibility for verifying that all nurses who receive a Public Health Nurse
Certificate after October 1, 1987 have received training which satisfies the
requirements in Section
4501(a)(4).
