Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 2, § 599.641 - Definitions
(a) Housekeeping
accommodations are those units of 501 or more square feet that contain regular
cooking facilities. Non-housekeeping accommodations are those that do not
contain regular cooking facilities, and all units of 500 or less square
feet.
(b) Square feet encompasses
the entire building area except porches, garages, basements, and attics unless
they have been converted to usable living area.
(c) Square footage is calculated by
multiplying the interior living area length times the width.
(d) Areas officially set aside as state
offices will not be included in the calculation of square feet to compute
rental charges.
(e) Housing is in
Location Class 1 when it is within 25 miles and not more than 40 minutes travel
time, one way, of a community with 2,500 or more year-round population. All
other housing is in Location Class 2.
