Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 22, § 51124.5 - Subacute Level of Care
(a)
Subacute level of care means a level of care needed by a patient who does not
require hospital acute care but who requires more intensive licensed skilled
nursing care than is provided to the majority of patients in a skilled nursing
facility.
(b) To be eligible for
subacute level of care a patient's condition shall meet all of the criteria as
provided for in the Subacute Level of Care Criteria contained in the Manual of
Criteria for Medi-Cal Authorization referenced in Title 22, California Code of
Regulations (CCR), Section

51003(e) as determined by
the patient's attending physician and as approved by the appropriate Medi-Cal
field office medical consultant or equivalent authorizing agent, who is
responsible for authorizing the level of care.
