Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 22, § 76359 - Dental Services-General Requirements
(a) There shall be comprehensive diagnostic
services for all clients which include a complete extraoral and intraoral
examination, utilizing all diagnostic aids necessary to properly evaluate the
client's oral condition within a period of one month following admission unless
such an examination was done within six months of admission and the results are
received and reviewed by the facility and are entered in the client's
record.
(b) There shall be
comprehensive treatment services for all clients which include:
(1) Provision for dental treatment.
(2) A system that will assure that each
client is reexamined at specified intervals in accordance with his needs but at
least annually.
(c) There
shall be education and training through a dental hygiene program to maintain
oral health which includes:
(1) Giving
information regarding nutrition and diet control measures to staff.
(2) Instruction of clients and staff in each
living unit in proper methods of oral hygiene.
(3) Instruction of parents or authorized
representatives in the maintenance of proper oral hygiene, where appropriate
(as in the case of clients leaving the facility).
(d) A permanent dental record shall be
maintained for each client. A summary dental progress report shall be entered
in the client record at stated intervals. A copy of the permanent dental record
shall be provided a facility to which a client is transferred.
(e) There shall be a formal arrangement for
providing dental services to the facility, including care in dental emergencies
on a 24-hour, 7-days-a-week basis.
(f) There shall be available qualified dental
personnel, and necessary supporting staff to carry out the dental services
program.
