Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 3, § 837 - Recordkeeping
(a)
All USDA accredited and state licensed veterinarians issuing Certificates of
Veterinary Inspection must maintain the Certificates of Veterinary Inspection
with supporting documents for (5) five years.
(b) Approved livestock facilities, approved
tagging sites, registered feedlots and livestock markets must keep Certificates
of Veterinary Inspection or alternate documentation with supporting documents
required by this article for the movement of livestock entering the facility
for five (5) years.
(c) Approved
licensed dealers must keep an individual identification record for each animal
sufficient to identify the animal, seller and buyer, and Certificates of
Veterinary Inspection or alternate documentation with supporting documents
required by this article for the movement of livestock for five (5)
years.
(d) Any person receiving
livestock must maintain official documents with supporting documentation
required pursuant to this article for five (5) years.
(e) Documents recording intrastate movements
must be kept by the owner of the animal for five (5) years.
(f) USDA accredited and state-licensed
veterinarians or other persons or entities distributing official eartags or any
person applying official eartags to animals on behalf of the owner must
maintain for five (5) years a record, including but not limited to, the names
and addresses of anyone to whom the devices were distributed or the owner of
the animals, official eartag numbers of the devices distributed or applied, and
the date of distribution or application.
(g) Any person applying any additional
official eartag or device must maintain records as specified in section
831.2(b)(2) through
(4) of this article for five (5)
years.
(h) Any person replacing an
official eartag or device must maintain records as specified in section
831.2(c)(4) of
this article for five (5) years.
(i) Any person applying a vaccination eartag
must record and maintain the information about the event pursuant to Title 3,
California Code of Regulations, section
752(a)(5) for five
(5) years.
(j) Any person applying
a new official identification device with a different official identification
number must record and maintain the information about the event as specified in
section 831.2(d) of this
article for five (5) years.
(k) Any
person replacing a temporary identification device with a new official
identification device (retagging event) must record and maintain the
information about the event as specified in section
831.2(c)(4)(B) of
this article for five (5) years.
(l) Any person applying USDA approved
backtags to animals must maintain for five (5) years a record, including but
not limited to, the names and addresses of the owner of the animals, backtag
numbers applied, and the date of application.
(m) The Department may inspect and/or
photocopy during normal business hours any records required to be kept pursuant
to this article.
