Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 8, § 2837 - Ratings
(a) The continuous
current rating of a circuit breaker shall equal or exceed the maximum
continuous current at the point of installation.
(b) The interrupting rating of a circuit
breaker shall equal or exceed the maximum fault current the circuit breaker
will be required to interrupt, including contributions from all connected
sources of energy.
(c) The closing
rating of a circuit breaker shall equal or exceed the maximum asymmetrical
fault current into which the circuit breaker can be closed.
(d) The momentary rating of a circuit breaker
shall equal or exceed the maximum asymmetrical fault current at the point of
installation.
(e) The rated maximum
voltage of a circuit breaker shall equal or exceed the maximum circuit voltage.
