Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 8, § 3087.2 - Safety Considerations
(a)
Vertical or inclined reciprocating conveyor equipment shall be used to convey
materials within the manufacturer's capacity and speed. [5.1]
(b) Means shall be provided to prevent injury
to persons in the event of mechanical or electrical failure, where the effect
of gravity will allow uncontrollable lowering of the load and where this load
will cause a hazard to persons. [5.5 and 6.6.1]
(c) Riding vertical or inclined reciprocating
conveyors shall be forbidden to all persons. [6.6.1]
(1) Warning signs to this effect shall be
conspicuously and securely posted at each point of access to platform or
carrier.
(2) Lettering shall be not
less than 2 in. (51 mm) high on a contrasting background.
