Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 8, § 3093.3 - Top Car Clearance

The top car clearance shall be not less than 6 in. (152 mm) plus 1 in. (25 mm) for each 3 1/3 fpm (0.017 m/s) of the rated speed in excess of 30 fpm (0.15 m/s).
