Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 8, § 3093.6 - Horizontal Car Clearances

(a) There shall be a clearance of not less than ¾ in. (19 mm) between the car and the hoistway enclosure, and between the car and its counterweight.

(b) The clearance between the car platform and the landing sill shall be not less than ½ in. (13 mm) nor more than 1 ½ in. (38 mm).
