Conn. Agencies Regs. § 16-11-22 - Meter location
(a) Meters may be
located inside or outside of a building depending upon local conditions and all
meters shall be accessible for reading.
(b) When located inside a building, the meter
shall be installed as near as practicable to the point of entrance of the
service, be in a clean, dry, safe place and be supported in such a manner as to
be as free as possible from damage that will render it unsafe or
inaccurate.
(c) When located
outside a building, the meter shall be installed as near as practicable to the
building and be supported in such a manner as to be as free as possible from
damage that will render it unsafe or inaccurate. The gas company shall install
an accessible shut-off cock ahead of the meter.
