Conn. Agencies Regs. § 16-11-96 - Interruptions in service
(1) Each utility
shall give prompt notice to the commission by telephone during regular business
hours of all interruptions, except those occurring in the course of routine
operations, to, or major impairment of, service for periods of duration of four
hours or more occurring on production works, storage works, transmission mains
or distribution mains or of accident or damage to portions of the plant which
might lead to such interruptions of service. Such notice shall be confirmed in
writing within five days.
(2) Each
utility shall make all reasonable efforts to prevent interruptions of service
and, when such interruptions occur shall endeavor to reestablish service with
the shortest possible delay consistent with the safety of its customers and the
general public. Where an emergency interruption affects fire protection
service, the utility shall immediately notify the fire chief or other
responsible local official.
(3)
Whenever any utility finds it necessary to schedule an interruption to its
service, it shall make all reasonable effort to notify all customers to be
affected by the interruption, stating the time and anticipated duration of the
interruption. Whenever possible, scheduled interruptions shall be at such hours
as will provide least inconvenience to the customer.
(4) Every utility shall maintain records of
interruptions for a period of at least two years.
