Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. R. 513-14-1-.06 - Reinstatement After Deactivation for Non-Payment of Dues
(1) Any member of said retirement fund with
less than 10 years of service credit, who is dropped from active membership on
or after July 1, 1994, for failure to pay dues, and who continues his or her
employment as a peace officer, must reinstate his or her membership in
accordance with provisions of this Rule, within eight (8) months from the date
he or she becomes delinquent in paying his or her dues or he or she will
forfeit his or her rights of membership. Such reinstatement for delinquency in
dues will be effected by payment of all dues which are delinquent and payment
of a reinstatement fee of $35.00.
(2) Any member of said retirement fund with
more than 10 years of service credit, who is dropped from Active membership on
or after July 1, 1994, for failure to pay dues, and who continues his
employment as a peace officer, must reinstate his or her membership to Active
status within 8 months from the date he or she became delinquent in payment of
dues or he or she will forfeit all claim to any employment service during such
period he or she remains employed as a peace officer while not on Active status
in the Fund. Such reinstatement made within the required 8 months will require
payment of all dues then due in addition to a $35.00 reinstatement fee.
(a) If reinstatement is made after the
passing of 8 months of continuous employment as a peace officer, return to
Active status may be made by forfeiting all claim to and service credit for
periods when not an Active member of the Fund.
