Iowa Admin. Code rr. 281-120.301 - Public awareness program-information for parents
(1)
Preparation and dissemination. In accordance with rule
281-120.116 ( 34CFR303), the
system must include a public awareness program that requires the department to:
a. Prepare information on the availability of
early intervention services under this chapter, and other services, as
described in subrule 120.301(2) and disseminate to all primary referral sources
(especially hospitals and physicians) the information to be given to parents of
infants and toddlers, especially parents with premature infants or infants with
other physical risk factors associated with learning or developmental
complications; and
b. Adopt
procedures for assisting the primary referral sources described in subrule
120.303(3) in disseminating the information described in subrule 120.301(2) to
parents of infants and toddlers with disabilities.
(2)
Information to be
provided. The information required to be prepared and disseminated
under subrule 120.301(1) must include:
a. A
description of the availability of Early ACCESS services under this
chapter;
b. A description of the
child find system and how to refer a child under the age of three for an
evaluation or early intervention services; and
c. A central directory, as described in rule
281-120.117( 34CFR303).
(3)
Information specific to toddlers
with disabilities. The public awareness program also must include a
requirement that the department provide for informing parents of toddlers with
disabilities of the availability of services under Section 619 of the Act not
fewer than 90 days prior to the toddler's third birthday.
