09-137 C.M.R. ch. 23, § 1.05 - Prerequisites for Special Application Procedure
There shall be certain prerequisites for all candidates of the Special Application Procedure. It is assumed that this procedure is for all persons who are skill and experience qualified to be a Camp Trip Leader and at the same time waiver the Camp Trip Leader Safety Course. The prerequisites are as follows:
A. Minimum age: 21
years.
B. Field experience
1. In service with an organized Camp group:
a. the candidate has had three years
experience as a Trip Counselor.
b.
each experience shall be at least two nights in duration.
2. Similar experience:
a. the candidate must document at least three
years experience as a leader of groups in camping situations.
b. each candidate has had at least four
experiences.
C.
Health. The candidate shall have a health record showing the following:
1. A physical examination in the past 12
months.
2. A complete health
history. Including a conclusion on general health indicating any physical
conditions requiring special considerations. (Non-medical religious candidates
working for non-medical religious camps need not comply with section
C.)
D. Current
certification in the following - documentation to be sent with application to
this Department:
1. First Aid (Red Cross,
etc.)
2. CPR
3. Lifesaving (Trips involving water travel
only)
a. WSI (water safety
instructor)
b. Basic Water Safety
& Emergency Water Safety
c.
Lifeguarding
