Md. Code Regs. 08.02.05.09 - River Herring
A. Definition.
(1) In this regulation, the following term has the
meaning indicated.
(2) Term Defined.
"River herring" means both alewife herring (Alosa pseudoharengus) and blueback
herring (Alosa aestivalis).
B. An individual may not possess river herring
within the jurisdiction of Maryland.
C.
Exceptions. The provisions of §B of this regulation do not prohibit the entry
into the State, or possession, transportation, exportation, processing, sale, offer
of sale, or shipment of river herring which were legally caught in waters not under
jurisdiction of Maryland, if the person engaging in the activity possesses a bill of
sale which identifies the river herring as originating from waters not under
jurisdiction of Maryland.
