Md. Code Regs. 09.10.02.18 - Horse Identification

A. Except as otherwise permitted in §B of this regulation, a horse may not be permitted to race unless fully identified by its:
(1) Color;
(2) Markings;
(3) Unusual conformation, if any; and
(4) Registration number issued by a governing body of the breed as indicated by a:
(a) Freeze brand on the horse's neck, or
(b) Lip tattoo.
B. The judges may allow a horse to start one time if a horse has not been freeze branded or lip tattooed provided that arrangements are made, before the race in which the horse is permitted to start, to have the horse freeze branded or lip tattooed.
