Md. Code Regs. 09.10.02.46 - Daily Doubles
A. The pay-off
may be posted after the pool closes and before the race completing the double
has been run. In the event of a dead heat in the first race of the daily
double, posting of the pay-off prices may be deferred until the race completing
the daily double has been run.
B.
The daily double is not a parlay and has no connection with or relation to the
mutuel betting. All prices on the daily double will be calculated in a separate
pool. All tickets will be to win only (straight), except as otherwise provided
in this regulation. A "field" may not be permitted in any race involved in the
daily double.
C. If no ticket is
sold combining the two winners, the daily double pool then shall be apportioned
equally between those having tickets including the winner of the first half and
those having tickets including the winner of the second half in the same manner
in which a "place" pool is calculated.
D. If no ticket is sold including the winner
of the first half, the entire pool shall be distributed to holders of tickets
which include the winner of the second half.
E. If no ticket is sold including the winner
of the second half, then the entire pool shall be distributed to holders of
tickets which include the winner of the first half of the daily
double.
F. If no ticket is sold
including the winner of either half, then the pool shall be distributed to
holders of tickets finishing second in the two races of the daily
double.
G. If, for any reason, the
first half of the daily double is cancelled and declared "no race", a full and
complete refund shall be made of the daily double pool. If, for any reason, the
second half of the daily double is declared "no race", the daily double pool
shall be distributed to the holders of the tickets on the winner of the first
half in the same manner as a straight pool.
H. If, after the first half of the daily
double has been run and declared "official", a horse is scratched or excused
from the second half of the daily double, then a consolation pay-off shall be
made to holders of tickets which combine the winner of the first half and the
scratched or excused horse. The consolation pay-off shall be calculated as
follows:
(1) The net daily double pool (gross
pool less commission) shall be divided by the total number of tickets sold
combining the winner of the first half;
(2) The quotient thus obtained shall
constitute the consolation pay-off to be paid to holders of each ticket
combining the winner of the first half and the scratched or excused horse in
the second half;
(3) The entire
consolation pool (number of eligible tickets times the consolation price), plus
the breakage, shall then be deducted from the net daily double pool;
(4) The remaining pool is the new net pool
for the daily double.
I.
If holders of tickets lose the first half of the daily double and the horse in
the second half is scratched or excused, there will be no refund.
J. If no ticket is sold which would require
distribution of the daily double pool, the association shall make a complete
and full refund of the pool.
