Md. Code Regs. 11.14.09.24 - Vehicle Identification Number
A. As required under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 49 CFR §
571.500, Standard No. 500 Low Speed Vehicles, the manufacturers of all low speed vehicles shall legibly inscribe the vehicle identification number (VIN) that conforms to the requirements of 49 CFR Part 565 Vehicle Identification Number. Each VIN shall consist of 17 characters.

| (1) Inspect vehicle for manufacturer's vehicle identification number. | (1) Manufacturer's vehicle identification number is missing, altered, or fails to contain the properly required 17 characters. |
| Agency Note: State assigned VIN plates when attached in place of manufacturer's VIN are acceptable. | |
