Md. Code Regs. 26.13.03.03-10 - Labeling and Marking of Containers and Tanks
A. Containers. A person accumulating
hazardous waste in a container shall mark or label the container with:
(1) The words "Hazardous Waste";
(2) An indication of the hazards of the
contents of the container, with the marking or label communicating the hazards
by:
(a) Listing each hazardous waste
characteristic of those identified in COMAR 26.13.02.11-.14 that the waste
exhibits;
(b) Providing hazard
communication information consistent with the U.S. Department of Transportation
requirements at 49 CFR Part 172 Subpart E (labeling) or Subpart F
(placarding);
(c) Providing a
hazard statement or pictogram consistent with the U.S. Occupational Health and
Safety Administration Hazard Communication Standard at
29 CFR §
1910.1200;
(d) Providing a chemical hazard label
consistent with the National Fire Protection Association Code 704; or
(e) Some other method that is at least as
effective as any of the methods listed in §A(2)(a)-(d) of this regulation;
and
(3) The date upon
which each period of accumulation begins, with the date clearly visible for
inspection.
B. Tanks. A
person accumulating hazardous waste in a tank shall mark or label the tank
with:
(1) The words "Hazardous Waste";
and
(2) An indication of the
hazards of the contents of the tank, with the marking or label communicating
the hazards by one of the methods identified in §A(2)(a)-(e) of this
regulation.
