Mich. Admin. Code R. 400.1936 - Animals and pets
Rule 36.
(1) A
licensee shall notify parents of any animals and pets in the home.
(2) Animals and pets that are potentially
aggressive or in poor health shall be separated from children in care at all
times.
(3) Children having contact
with animals and pets shall be supervised by a child care staff member who is
physically close enough to remove a child immediately if the animal shows signs
of distress or the child shows signs of treating the animal
inappropriately.
(4) Animals and
pets shall not be allowed in food preparation and eating areas during meal or
snack time.
(5) Litter boxes, pet
food, pet dishes, and pet toys must be inaccessible to children.
