Mich. Admin. Code R. 408.12791 - Operating rules; inspection and maintenance
Rule 2791.
(1)
A supervisor or employee shall not remove or make inoperable any safety device
or guard specified in this standard.
(2) Dull, badly set, improperly filed, or
improperly tensioned saws shall be immediately removed from service before they
begin to cause the material to stick, jam, or kickback when the material is fed
to the saw at a normal speed. Saws to which gum has adhered on the sides shall
be immediately cleaned.
(3) Knives
and cutting heads of woodworking machines shall be kept sharp, properly
adjusted, and firmly secured. If 2 or more knives are used in 1 head, knives
shall be properly balanced.
(4)
Bearings shall be kept free of lost motion and shall be well
lubricated.
(5) Arbors of circular
saws shall be free from play.
(6)
The sharpening or tensioning of saw blades or cutters shall be done only by
persons of demonstrated skill.
(7)
A saw blade, cutter head, or tool collar shall not be placed or mounted on a
machine arbor unless the tool has been machined as to size and shape to fit the
arbor.
