Rule 4504.
(1)
"Holding furnace" means a furnace designed to hold molten metal within a
desired temperature range.
(2) "Hot
chamber machine" means a die casting machine where the injection mechanism is
submerged in the molten metal.
(3)
"Lockout procedure" means a method of shutting off the power to equipment and
securing it by means of a lock and key.
(4) "Manually tended" means a machine which
has an operator who controls the cycle, inserts or removes a part or ladles
molten metal.
(5) "Melting
furnace," also known as a breakdown furnace, means a furnace designed to
convert solid metals into a molten state. It includes a furnace designed as a
combination melting and holding furnace.
