Mich. Admin. Code R. 408.7077 - Emergency stop switch
Rule 77. Section 24.2.4 of the ANSI A10.4 standard is amended to read as follows:
24.2.4 An emergency stop switch shall be
provided in the car and located in or adjacent to the car operating panel. When
opened, the switch shall cause the electric power to be removed from the hoist
driving-machine motor and brake. Emergency stop switches shall have all of the
following characteristics:
(1) Manually
opened and closed type.
(2) Red
operating handles or buttons.
(3)
Conspicuously and permanently marked "stop."
(4) Positively opened mechanically and the
opening shall not be solely dependent on springs.
(5) Capability of being locked out of use
when the operator leaves the car.
(6) Operation of the emergency stop switch
shall not require manual resetting of the control panels.
