A. Target Population
(1) Full certification is for those employees
who have two or more years of experience in the field of mental health within
the State of Mississippi. Individuals applying for Certified Mental Health
Therapist (CMHT) will be those employees who hold provisional certification as
a Provisionally Certified Mental Health Therapist (PCMHT) and have completed
the requirements to upgrade to full certification.
(2) The following professions may be included
in this certification: Psychology, Nursing, Counseling, Psychometry, Vocational
Rehabilitation, Special Education and other related fields.
B. Requirements for Upgrade
Application Eligibility
To be eligible to upgrade to full certification (CMHT), each
individual must meet the following requirements, which include the completion
of all Provisional Certification Period requirements. See Chapter 3, Section 2,
E., pp. 9-10 for more information on requirements to be completed during the
Provisional Certification Period.
(1)
Employment: Be employed in a program described in Chapter 3, Section 1, C., p.
7;
(2) Education: Have at least
thirty (30) semester hours of applicable graduate- level course work from an
approved educational institution which includes a minimum of a master's degree
in mental health or a related field;
(3) Experience: Have at least two years of
supervised experience in the field of mental health in the State of
Mississippi;
(4) Ongoing Inservice
/Training: During the Provisional Certification Period, accrue a minimum of
thirty (30) Contact Hours of successfully completed inservice/ training
(approximately fifteen [15] Contact Hours per year) as verified by the
program's designated Staff Development Officer.
(5) Mental Health Core Training Program
(MH-CTP): Successful completion of all three (3) Modules of the
MH-CTP.
