20 Miss. Code. R. 2-III - REIMBURSEMENT FOR REFILL OF PAIN PUMPS
A.
Code
95990. This CPT code, which applies to refilling and maintenance of an
implantable pump or reservoir for drug delivery spinal (intrathecal, epidural)
or brain (intraventricular), is reimbursed at the specified MRA listed in the
Medicine section of the Fee Schedule.
B.
Evaluation and Management
Services. Refilling and maintenance of implantable pump or reservoir for
pain management drug delivery is a global service. A separate evaluation and
management service is not paid unless significant additional or other cognitive
services are provided and documented. To report a significant, separately
identifiable evaluation and management service, append modifier 25 to the
appropriate evaluation and management code. Documentation is required and
payment will be allowed if supported by the documentation.
C.
Drugs. Those drugs used in
the refill of the pain pump shall be reimbursed in accordance with the Pharmacy
Rules contained in the Pharmacy Rules section of this Fee Schedule.
D.
Compounding Fee. If the drugs
used in the refill of the pain pump must be compounded, the compounding service
shall be reimbursed at $157.44 per individual refill. Report the compounding
service with code S9430, Pharmacy compounding and dispensing services.
E. Non-FDA-approved drugs for
intrathecal use will NOT be reimbursed.
