Nev. Admin. Code § 385B.Sec. 7 - NEW
1. Each school shall, in accordance with the
provisions of this section, continually review the academic progress of a pupil
who participates in a sanctioned sport for the period in which the pupil
participates in the sanctioned sport.
2. Each school shall conduct an interim
progress review regarding each pupil who participates in a sanctioned sport on
each date established by the school district or school pursuant to this
section. The interim progress review must include, without limitation, a review
of the progress of the pupil in:
(a) Each
course taken by the pupil at the school where the pupil participates in a
sanctioned sport; and
(b) Any
vocational, magnet, online, college or night course or any other course taken
for credit toward graduation by the pupil at a school other than the school
where the pupil participates in a sanctioned sport.
3. Each interim progress review must indicate
the academic status of the pupil for the period beginning on the first day of
the semester or its equivalent, or on the first day of the grading period, and
ending on the date on which the review is conducted. The academic status must
be determined in accordance with the regulations of:
(a) The school district in which the school
conducting the interim progress review is located; or
(b) If the school conducting the interim
progress review is not part of a school district, the school.
4. Except as otherwise provided in
subsections 5, 6 and 7, each school district or school that is not part of a
school district shall establish the dates for conducting an interim progress
review required by this section based on its academic calendar for each school
year. The dates must be scheduled in a manner so that each interim progress
review is:
(a) Conducted on the last school
day in a week;
(b) Separated from
either the beginning or conclusion of a grading period by approximately 15
school days or the equivalent; and
(c) Separated from another interim progress
review by approximately 15 school days or the equivalent.
5. For each pupil who participates in a
sanctioned sport, a school must conduct:
(a)
During a grading period that consists of approximately 45 school days or the
equivalent, not less than two interim progress reviews.
(b) During a grading period that consists of
approximately 60 days, not less than three interim progress reviews.
6. If approved by the Executive
Director, a school district or a school that is not part of a school district
may establish a date for conducting an interim progress review pursuant to this
section that occurs not more than 1 week before or after any date that the
school district has established pursuant to subsection 4.
7. A school shall not conduct the first
interim progress review during a school year until after the first date on
which a game, contest or meet may be scheduled for a season as set forth by the
schedule of activities established by the Association for that
purpose.
