Nev. Admin. Code § 385B.Sec. 8 - NEW
1. Grading periods used for the purpose of
determining whether a pupil meets the academic requirements set forth in NAC
385B.750
to
385B.770,
inclusive, and sections 3 to 8, inclusive must be determined by a school
district or, for a school that is not part of a school district, a school. Such
grading periods:
(a) Must not include more
than one-third of a school year;
(b) May be a portion of a period over which
credit is earned by a pupil; and
(c) Must be approximately equal in length as
measured by the number of school days in each grading period throughout the
school year.
2. Grades
issued for a grading period may be either formative or summative. Except as
otherwise provided in NAC
385B.758,
in calculating the grade point average of a pupil for the purposes of
determining whether the pupil meets the requirements of NAC
385B.750
to
385B.770,
inclusive, and sections 3 to 8, inclusive, only grades issued for the grading
period in which they were obtained may be used.
3. A grading period may consist of, without
limitation:
(a) For a semester credit system,
a quarter consisting of approximately 45 school days that uses formative grades
in the first and third quarters and summative grades in the second and fourth
quarters.
(b) For a trimester
credit system, a trimester consisting of approximately 60 school days that uses
solely summative grades.
(c) Any
other equivalent grading period in another grading system that meets the
requirements of subsection 1.
