Nev. Admin. Code § 484D.090 - Service brake: Performance standards
1. Every motor
vehicle and combination of vehicles, under all conditions of loading, upon
application of the service brake, must be capable of:
(a) Stopping from a speed of 20 mph in the
distance tabulated in subsection 2 for its classification without swerving out
of a 12-foot-wide lane;
(b)
Developing a braking force on each front and rear wheel that is within 20
percent of the braking force on the opposite front or rear wheel;
(c) Developing a braking force that is not
less than the percentage of its gross weight tabulated in subsection 2 for its
classification;
(d) Decelerating to
a stop at not less than the feet per second per second tabulated in subsection
2 for its classification; and
(e)
Stopping in not more than the distance tabulated in subsection 2 for its
classification and initial speed, with the distance measured from the point at
which movement of the service brake pedal or control begins.
