N.J. Admin. Code § 13:1-13.1 - Continuing education
(a)
A licensee applying for renewal of a law enforcement license shall, as a condition of renewal, complete annual continuing education. The Commission
shall issue a list of mandatory and approved elective continuing education no later than December 1 of the preceding year. Mandatory training will
include, but not be limited to, training mandated by the Attorney General by policy, directive, or guideline. Mandatory training shall also include
training that is legislatively mandated, including, but not limited to, N.J.S.A. 52:17B-77.7 through, and including,
52:17B-77.9;
N.J.S.A. 52:17B-77.11 through, and including,
52:17B-77.17; and
52:17B-77.19. The law enforcement unit shall
cover the costs and provide adequate time for each of its employee licensees to receive mandatory training. Law enforcement units are encouraged to
provide training opportunities. Additional training can be determined by the law enforcement unit to best fit its and individual officer
requirements.
(b) Law enforcement units and law enforcement officers are required to maintain training
records in order to verify certifications made for license renewal.
(c) Law enforcement units and law
enforcement officers are required to submit training records, if directed by the Commission to do so, in a manner prescribed by the
Commission.
