N.J. Admin. Code § 7:10-12.12 - Minimum distance requirements
(a) The minimum
distances at which certain components of a public noncommunity or nonpublic water
system shall be located away from sanitary sewer and septic systems, fuel storage
tanks and other structures are set forth in N.J.A.C. 7:9D-2.
1. An administrative authority may require a
greater distance than that required in N.J.A.C. 7:9D-2 between a well and a sewage
system component where gravel, limestone, or fractured, creviced or fissured rock
formations are expected to be encountered during drilling.
2. An administrative authority shall approve a
reduction in the distance required between a well and a disposal field or a seepage
pit to a minimum of 50 feet if the well is provided with a casing to a depth of 50
feet or more and such casing extends to, and is sealed into, a confining layer
separating the aquifer into which the well is drilled from the stratum of soil in
which the disposal field is located.
3.
The administrative authority shall approve a reduction in the distance from a well
to a building sewer to a minimum of 15 feet if it can be demonstrated that the
building sewer is watertight and there are no other practicable
alternatives.
