N.Y. Comp. Codes R. & Regs. Tit. 17 § 182.34 - Speed limits
(a)
Except where otherwise posted, and except where such maximum speeds are unsafe,
the maximum speeds at which vehicles may be operated on the parkways within the
parkway system are as follows:
(1) Cross
County Parkway.
(i) Forty-five miles per hour
between the Saw Mill River Parkway and Westchester Avenue in the City of Mount
Vernon.
(ii) Fifty-five miles per
hour between Westchester Avenue in the City of Mount Vernon and the Hutchinson
River Parkway.
(iii) Forty miles
per hour on the Wartburg Extension of the Cross County Parkway between the
Cross County Parkway and the Hutchinson River Parkway.
(2) Hutchinson River Parkway.
(i) Fifty miles per hour between the
Westchester County New York City boundary line and Wilmot Road in the City of
New Rochelle.
(ii) Fifty-five miles
per hour between Wilmot Road in the City of New Rochelle and the Westchester
County Connecticut State boundary line.
(3) Saw Mill River Parkway.
(i) Fifty miles per hour between the
Westchester County New York City boundary line and the Taconic State Parkway at
the Hawthorne interchange.
(ii)
Fifty-five miles per hour between the Taconic State Parkway at the Hawthorne
interchange and the connection with the service roads forming part of
Interstate Route 684 near the Village of Katonah.
(4) Rumsey Road. Thirty-five miles per hour
between Spruce Street and the Saw Mill River Parkway in the City of
Yonkers.
(5) Farragut Parkway.
Thirty-five miles per hour between Farragut Avenue and the Saw Mill River
Parkway in the Village of Hastings on Hudson.
(6) Sprain Brook State Parkway. Fifty-five
miles per hour between the ramp connections with the Bronx River Parkway and
the ramp connections to the Cross Westchester Expressway in the Village of
Elmsford.
(7) Taconic State
Parkway.
(i) Fifty miles per hour between the
Kensico traffic circle in the Town of North Castle and the Saw Mill River
Parkway at the Hawthorne interchange.
(ii) Fifty-five miles per hour between the
Saw Mill River Parkway at the Hawthorne interchange, Westchester County, and
the Berkshire spur of the New York State Thruway (IR 90) in the Town of
Chatham, Columbia County.
(b) Where a lesser speed limit is posted, no
person shall operate a vehicle in excess of such posted speed limit.
(c) No person shall drive a motor vehicle
within the parkway system at such a slow speed as to impede the normal and
reasonable movement of traffic except when entering upon or preparing to exit
from the parkway system, when preparing to stop, or when necessary for safe
operation or in compliance with law.
(d) Vehicles approaching a parkway toll
station shall reduce speed commensurate with speed limit signs, or road
conditions, and shall stop in the appropriate designated location and pay the
required toll.
