Or. Admin. R. 851-053-0010 - Prescriptive Privilege and Dispensing Authority for APRNs
(1) If applying for initial optional
prescriptive privilege (PP), the applicant must show:
(a) Completion of initial education program
within two years prior to the application date providing at least 45 contact
hours of advanced pharmacology concepts; or
(b) Evidence of completion of a 45-hour
discrete pharmacology course congruent with the licensure being sought and
population foci; or
(c) Current
prescriptive privilege in another state or U.S. jurisdiction, including a U.S.
federal institution or facility.
(2) If an APRN is renewing optional
prescriptive privilege the applicant must:
(a)
Submit a completed prescriptive privilege renewal application in accordance
with ORS 678.101(5);
(b) Maintain active, unencumbered Oregon RN
and APRN licensure;
(c) Attest to
completion of the online Prescription and Dispensing Authority in Oregon
interactive video located on the OSBN website.
(3) If an APRN has previously been issued
prescriptive privilege that has been expired for more than 30 days that they
wish to reactivate, the applicant must:
(a)
Submit a completed application per OAR
851-006-0030(17);
(b) An APRN must have an active unencumbered
RN and APRN license prior to their prescriptive privilege being
reactivated;
(c) Attest to
completion of the online Prescription and Dispensing Authority in Oregon
interactive video located on the OSBN website
(4) An APRN who provides greater than a
72-hour supply of prepackaged medications to clients is required to apply for
and be issued dispensing privileges in Oregon. Dispensing privilege is separate
from an APRN's prescriptive privilege and is noted as such on their APRN
license verification.
(5) An APRN
may obtain dispensing privilege by submitting a completed application as
defined in OAR 851-006-0030(17)
to the Board. This application may be submitted at the time of initial
application or whenever dispensing privileges are required. Dispensing
privileges are renewed, if still needed by the practitioner, at the same time
as the APRN license.
