S.D. Admin. R. 20:50:10:03 - Expiration of contact lens prescription
A contact lens prescription expires:
(1) Not less than one year after the issue
date of the prescription; or
(2) On
the date specified by the prescriber, based upon the medical judgment of the
prescriber with respect to the ocular health of the patient.
If a prescription expires in less than one year, the prescriber shall document the reasons for that expiration date in the patient's medical record. No prescriber may specify a prescription expiration date that is earlier than the date on which a reexamination of the patient is medically necessary.
