Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. 0360-06-01-.04 - PROGRESSION
(1) Fire service personnel who have been
certified at a specific progression level may take the examination for a lower
(regression) level.
(2) If an
applicant who has already achieved certification at a particular level(s) under
prior NFPA standards wishes to achieve certification for those levels after the
date Tennessee becomes accredited, the applicant will be allowed to do so and
the waiting period shall not apply. The applicant will be required to complete
all the requirements for the level(s) of certification sought.
(3) Unless otherwise prescribed in these
rules, an applicant may progress to the next level of certification after
achieving the prior certification level.
(4) A thirty (30) day waiting period is in
effect only for those dependent levels of certification that require a
prerequisite level of certification prior to testing at the desired level. For
example, an applicant shall be required to wait thirty (30) days between Fire
Instructor I and Fire Officer I examinations because Fire Instructor I is a
prerequisite for Fire Officer I. However, an applicant shall be eligible to
test on the same day for both Airport Firefighter and Fire Officer I if an
applicant meets the prerequisite requirements for each level because neither
level of certification is a prerequisite or dependent on the other level of
certification.
