Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. 1020-01-.04 - APPROVAL OF PROGRAMS OF STUDY
(1) Any program of
study offered by an educational institution, association, professional society
or organization designed especially for the purpose of qualifying applicants
for licensure as nursing home administrators is approved by the Board if the
program meets all of the following qualifications:
(a) The program of study includes courses in
all the Domains of Practice or their equivalent, including but not limited to:
1. Resident Care and Quality of
Life
2. Human Resources
3. Finance
4. Physical Environment and
Atmosphere
5. Leadership and
Management
(b) The
program of study must be offered by an accredited university or college, be
specifically designed to train and qualify applicants for licensure and meet
the academic requirements of the college or university.
(c) Effective January 1, 2000, the program of
study shall include a 400 hour internship taken for credit and served in a
licensed long term care nursing facility.
(2) The Board may approve a program of study
which excludes those subjects required by this rule which are in derogation of,
or in conflict with the teachings and practice of any recognized religious
faith. Provided, however, any applicant seeking admission to such program of
study hereunder shall submit evidence satisfactory to the Board of being in
fact an adherent of such recognized religious faith.
(3) Programs of study will receive
certification from the Board in a manner consistent with existing requirements
of the Federal Government in order to qualify for federal financial
participation.
