Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. 1660-02-02-.01 - PATTERN

(1) Every vessel identification number issued by the State of Tennessee shall consist of three parts. The first part shall consist of the capital letters "TN". The second part shall consist of not more than four (4) Arabic numerals. The third part shall consist of not more than two (2) capital letters. A validation decal shall be required as a part of the pattern of identification. Each part shall be separate from the other by a hyphen or equivalent space. For example: .-TN-I-A; .-TN-1234-AA; .TN 46 ZZ. Since the letters "I", "O" and "Q" may be mistaken for Arabic numerals, they shall not be used in the suffic. Objectionable words formed by the use of two or three letters shall not be used.
