Utah Admin. Code R309-215-5 - Monitoring Requirements for Groundwater Disinfection
(1) General: Continuous disinfection is
recommended for all drinking water sources. Continuous disinfection shall be
required of all groundwater sources which do not consistently meet standards of
bacteriologic quality. Once required by the Director continuous disinfection
shall not be interrupted nor terminated unless so authorized, in writing, by
the Director.
(2) Disinfection
Reporting: For each disinfection treatment facility, plant management shall
report information to the Division as specified in
R309-105-16(2)(c).
(3) A water system shall report a malfunction
of any facility or equipment such that a detectable residual cannot be
maintained throughout the distribution system. The system shall notify the
Division as soon as possible, but no later than by the end of the next business
day. The system also shall notify the Division by the end of the next business
day whether or not the residual was restored to at least 0.2 mg/L within four
hours.
