Utah Admin. Code R657-5-51 - Game Retrieval and Meat Salvage Minimum Requirements
(1)
(a) No
person shall wound or kill big game animal without making a reasonable effort
to retrieve it and take it into possession.
(b) A reasonable effort under Subsection
(1)(a) shall include:
(i) physically going to
the big game animal's location where a person attempted to take it and search
for any sign that the big game animal was wounded or killed; and
(ii) taking the big game animal into
possession and properly tagging it as per Section
R657-5-17.
(2) Any hunter who
harvests a big game animal shall salvage the meat from the front quarters as
far down as the knees, meat from the hindquarters as far down as the hocks, and
the meat along the backbone between the neck and hindquarters including the
loins and tenderloins, excluding meat on the ribs and neck.
