4 Va. Admin. Code § 15-430-100 - Visual distress signal exceptions
The following persons need not comply with 4VAC15-430-80; however, each must carry on board visual distress signals suitable for night use, selected from the list in 4VAC15-430-120 or 4VAC15-430-130, in the number required, between sunset and sunrise:
1. A person competing in any organized marine
parade, regatta, race, or similar event;
2. A person using a manually propelled boat;
or
3. A person using a sailboat of
completely open construction, not equipped with propulsion machinery, under 26
feet in length.
