A106.3 Insulation description. Coefficients are provided for the following three configurations:
1.Two foot (or four foot)
vertical: Insulation is applied directly to the slab exterior, extending
downward from the top of the slab to a depth of 2 feet (or 4 feet) below
grade.
2.Two foot (or four
foot) horizontal: Insulation is applied directly to the underside of the
slab, and run horizontally from the perimeter inward for 2 feet (or 4 feet).
The slab edge is exposed in this configuration.

A horizontal installation with a thermal break of at least R-5 at the slab edge should use the vertical-case F-factors. |
3.Fully insulated slab:
Insulation extends from the top of the slab, along the entire perimeter, and
completely covers the area under the slab. Thicker perimeter insulation covers
the slab edge and extends 2 feet under the slab.
