W. Va. Code R. § 126-116-5 - Plan

County school districts may receive an authorization from the State Superintendent of Schools for individuals holding a valid certificate endorsed in business education, 7-12 or business principles, 7-12, to teach economics as part of the comprehensive social studies graduation requirement provided the county superintendent:

5.1. Verifies the need to assign a business education or business principles teacher to teach economics through June 30, 1985 within the context of the comprehensive social studies program of studies approved by the West Virginia Board of Education.
5.2. Submits a plan demonstrating that the business teacher will be incorporated as part of the social studies team during the time period that he/she is teaching economics in order to maintain the integrity of social studies learning outcomes.
5.3. Submits and receives approval from the Office of Educational Personnel Development for a training program which will enable a fully certified social studies teacher to assume responsibility for the economics component. The training program would be part of the county's continuing education plan and once approved be monitored through the county accreditation process.
