053-8 Wyo. Code R. §§ 8-1 - Cementing Operations
(a) A pressure test
on pump discharge lines when squeeze cementing shall be made at least 1,000 psi
over the maximum pressure specified by the well operator for his well
equipment.
(b) All valves in
discharge lines shall be checked to see that they are open before beginning to
pump into the well.
(c) During
operations, each employee designated to handle the pumping shall remain
constantly at his designated station while the pump is in operation, unless
relieved by an authorized employee as directed by the supervisor on that
job.
(d) Unauthorized persons shall
remain at least 75 feet from all pumping and pressure testing
operations.
(e) Cementing pressure
shall not exceed the equipment's maximum safe working pressure.
(f) No person shall be permitted to stand
astraddle of, or to step over pressurized discharge lines.
(g) Hammering a union on a pressurized
discharge line is prohibited.
(h)
Overhead cementing lines shall be secured by a chain or wire rope to a location
independent of the cementing system. Such chain or wire rope shall be of
sufficient strength to support the anticipated load.
(i) All air compressors, while in operation,
shall be under the control of an authorized employee.
(j) Any defects that affect the safe
operation of the air compressors, receiver tank and/or appurtenant equipment
shall be immediately reported to the equipment operator in charge for immediate
corrective action.
(k) Each air
compressor and receiver tank shall be equipped with a safety pressure relief
valve(s) which shall not be set at more than 20 percent above the maximum
working pressure as established by the vessel's manufacturer. (See Chapter 1,
Section
2. , for definition of "working
pressure".)
(l) The safety pressure
relief valve and discharge end of vent pipes leading from air compressors, and
receiver tanks if present, shall be located or placed in such a way as to
prevent discharge from being released where injury to any person may
result.
(m) Safety pressure relief
valve(s) shall be visually inspected prior to each site use by the equipment
operator.
(n) Adequate lighting
shall be provided so that the gauge(s) can be easily read.
(o) Fittings and pipe shall be properly
installed and shall be capable of withstanding the discharge pressure of the
compressor used.
(p) There shall be
no valve in the discharge opening of the primary safety pressure relief valve
nor in the discharge pipe connected thereto.
(q) All air compressors shall have at least
one (1) pressure control for proper air flow.
(r) Pneumatic bulk materials tanks shall not
be operated at pressures higher than the maximum working pressure, which shall
be indicated on all pneumatic bulk material tanks.
