Judge Advocate General Corps

The Judge Advocate General Corps (JAG) encompasses a group of lawyers (called Judge Advocates) who work for one of the branches of the United States Armed Forces and serve as legal advisors for the branch of the military to which they are assigned. Judge advocates practice in a diverse range of areas including administrative law, contract law, environmental law, commercial law, national security, military law, international law, and many others. See the links below for information on each branch’s JAG group.  Note that as of July 2024, the Space Force does not have its own JAG.
