L.W.O.P.

Primary tabs

L.W.O.P. stands for leave without pay and is an employee’s temporary leave. Under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), eligible employees are allowed up to twelve weeks of unpaid leave during any twelve month period for specific family and medical needs.

L.W.O.P. also stands for life without parole and is a prison sentence given to a convicted defendant who must remain in prison for their entire life and cannot be granted parole. In states without the death penalty, this sentence is the most severe sentence that can be given.
