Redirect examination is a second direct examination of a witness which may be performed during a trial after cross-examination is complete. The purpose of redirect examination is to clarify or rebut any issues that may have been raised during the cross-examination. This allows the attorney to address any potential misunderstandings or to reinforce the witness’s original testimony.
