Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 3, § 795.60 - Swine Pseudorabies-Control
(a)
Surveillance, Samples, Testing. The Secretary shall maintain a surveillance
program for pseudorabies that includes sampling of blood or other tissues
obtained from swine at the time of slaughter.
(b) Investigation; Herd Testing. When a
surveillance sample is determined to be positive for pseudorabies:
(1) The Secretary shall initiate an
investigation that may include sampling of blood or other tissues to determine
the sources and extent of pseudorabies exposure and infection in the swine herd
from which the positive test result was obtained.
(2) The Secretary shall extend the
investigation to include pseudorabies testing of all swine herds within a
minimum 1.5 mile radius of an infected herd.
